IN RESPONSE TO THIS VERY IGNORANT REBLOG

ioamorida:

pretty cool? pretty cool islam is taking over europe(and fucking european politicans are either too scared to do anything about or even talk about it)and making women feel ashamed about their bodies ? are people out of their fucking minds..WHAT IS UP WITH PEOPLE AND THINKING SEX IS BAD? this asshole is going around “covering” these models up even when the models gave consent of being shown as “naked” as they were..who the fuck is she to decide what they can show or not, fucking shit, why do they allow such things to happen? STREET ART? no its an asshole that is literally shoving her religious ideology down people throats. big FUCK YOU..shame on europe.

What’s pretty cool is that everything you are saying about this street artist - yes artist (refer to dictionary.com) is the very reason he/she is doing what they are doing. Muslim women In France and parts of Europe are now being forced to not wear religious veils or coverings that they made the CHOICE to wear, contrary to what the Islamaphobes are preaching - just as these models gave consent to show their body parts. That was the message - hence, why it is art; a form of expression - your vulgar language doesn’t make you sound intelligent, in fact, it makes you sound more ignorant than you already sound. Who is anyone to tell anyone how to dress or how not to dress? You clearly missed the whole point of this and the “COOL” part is, you are still giving this ARTIST exposure.

dont worry about my language..what u (and many others) need to understand is that there is no islamophobia(but there really should be) as Frances decision wasn’t only directed to veils but: crosses, jewish skull caps, sikh turbans AS WELL as veils. They are basically saying that ur religion is yours only and should be private and should not be brought into public. You see the problem is, when a woman wears a hejab she is saying one thing out loud: i should cover my body cause my body is bad and puts men into temptation, and if i dont cover enough and i get raped, its my fault. And of course this is not the case, women get raped cause a man rapes them and not for their clothes..and this asshole is going around giving the message of how being naked is bad, and trying to get people to be ashamed of their body when there is nothing wrong with that(being naked, sexy or liking sex).

Listen to the scholar up here on Islam! ^ LOL. Let me ask you something. Who are you to assume what a woman is thinking when she puts on ANY piece of clothing? Eh? Who are you? Because I’ll tell you what. The only person who knows why a woman is putting on certain clothing is THAT WOMAN. Ok? You have no authority to just decide why any woman wears any type of clothing. No one has that authority. Your assumptions that a woman is conveying body shame and subservience to men when she chooses to cover, is just as ridiculous as untrue as the notion that women who choose to show off their cleavage and legs are only doing so to attract sexual attention. You need to get that through YOUR head. You need to stop assuming who a woman is, what she does, and how she feels, based on what she wears. Clothing does not convey confidence or lack thereof. The relationship between self-esteem and clothing is nonexistant. You cannot measure a persons self-esteem through how much clothing they wear. May I just stop right here and ask where you got your degree in psychology from? Which journal was your research on body shame published in? The university of nowhere and the journal of nonsense? What a highly reputable source you are! Do you want to know why psychological scientists can’t get away with publishing research on the definite relationship between women and clothing? Because women aren’t some monolith of shared thoughts and experiences that can be used to ever standardize why women do what women do!!! Take all of sexist and one dimensional views of women and PURGE! You’ll then find yourself at peace with the uniqueness and diversity of women.

Princess Hijab is an artist whose motives are to a) piss ignoramuses like you off and b) get attention for it so s/he can c) become a prominent exhibition artist (and it’s working, PH’s first institutional exhibition in NYC happened this past winter. It wasn’t nearly as interesting as her his/her street art is but that’s pretty typical).

The Burqa and Niqab ban in France was a xenophobic, racist ploy by Sarkozy to garner more of the extreme right-wing vote. Less than 2,000 women in France actually wear a full body veil, and those who do wear it wear it by their choice.

Princess Hijab’s street art brings attention to the segment of society which the French government and xenophobic racist people want to ignore, pretending that it doesn’t exist, or even try to make go away. That’s why those pesky 2005 French riots of immigrant, North African, and Muslim populations have been largely wiped clean from the French public conscious. That’s why there is an ongoing effort to remove the Roma population from France with forced deportation. Whereas the Paris metro system is covered with advertisements exclusively full of white models that ignore +30% of the French non-white population, Princess Hijab inserts a visual presence of the non-white Muslim into the highly trafficked public space of the Parisian metro system. This street art is a public reminder that this non-white, non-Christian part of French society will not be silenced or forgotten.

Painting black veils on white models has nothing to do with religious ideology, and everything to do with pushing xenophobic assholes like you’s buttons.

Well said, ladies … @ ioamorida no, sweetheart I do not need to understand anything from one who speaks without knowledge - nor do I need to be educated on my own religion or women’s wear, for that matter. See, the thing is, when I look through posts on Tumblr - I also look into who the person is behind the post. Clicking my page would’ve saved you from a mindless rant; as I am a professional working in the Fashion industry - I dress nude models; I work with women from all walks of life and I MADE THE CHOICE to recently cover up, despite the opinions of colleagues, or ‘psychologists’ such as yourself. I don’t feel the need to use foul language to get my message across nor words too large for your vocabulary. In case this one goes over your head, too … I am a contradiction to your idea of a Muslim woman, and a prime example of your everyday Muslim woman. Do I condone defacing public property? Absolutely not - but he/she is clearly spreading their message. Those clever enough, wouldn’t perceive it as an attempt at Islam-ifying Europe. For all we know, this street artist could be a man and not a woman, a Christian or Jewish, or without religion - hence, the anonymous. I’m pretty sure you’ve gotten the point, by now.
